Purpose of job:

Perform work involving maintenance skills to keep tools and the building structure in good condition while maintaining operating procedures and work instructions to assure compliance to the company’s ISO quality management system.

Level of authority:  

1. Notify management of any conditions that adversely affect product quality.

2. Initiate in the corrective/preventative processes.

 

Essential job functions: 

1. Recommend, repair, perform general upkeep of the grounds and the structure of the building, including inside painting.

2. Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.

3. Read work orders and specifications to determine tools and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.

4. Record the type of repair and parts used in the maintenance or repair work.

5. Create and maintain work instructions pertaining to the position, working closely with your manager and document control.

6. Empty production garbage containers, plastic and cardboard recycling gaylords daily and put collected waste in the designated disposal area.

7. Reorganize and maintain the organization of the second level storage warehouse.

8. Perform daily task list and sign off indicating completion.

9. Perform weekly task list and sign off indicating completion.

10. Perform monthly task list and sign off indicating completion.

11. Perform quarterly task list and sign off indicating completion.

12. Clean floors using the appropriate equipment, as needed.

 

Additional job functions:

1. Fill out work order forms when equipment needs maintenance or repair.

2. Perform and maintain records of mechanical safety device inspection, maintenance, and repair.

3. Be the janitorial backup for when the janitor is absent, focusing on bathroom and breakroom duties.

4. May need to provide help in moving heavy office and /or production equipment.

5. Participate in corrective/preventative processes, when needed.

6. Give support to teamwork and team-oriented activities, when needed.

7. May need to perform job-related activities as required or assigned.

 

Essential job qualifications and requirements:

 

Technical

• Must have 5 plus years of maintenance and repair experience.

• Must be forklift certified.

• Must have knowledge of assigned machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

• Must have knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of building structures.

• Must be able to monitor assigned equipment for proper functioning.

• Must be able to read and comprehend work instructions.

• Must have good written and verbal communication skills.

• Must have good organizational skills.

• Must have attention to detail.

• Must be able to interact with co-workers courteously and professionally.

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Physical

1. Must be able to perform general physical activities frequently during an 8-hour shift including pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, climbing, lifting, and balancing.

2. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and lift frequently during an 8-hour shift.

3. Must be able to stand and walk throughout an 8-hour shift.

4. Must have multi-limb coordination.

5. Must have good arm-hand control and dexterity.

6. Must have good physical reaction time to physical dangers from setting up, repairing and maintaining machines and equipment.

7. Must have good vision.

 

Work environment:  must be able to work in a temperature controlled production area with a moderately loud noise level due to production machines.  A portion of work is also performed in an office environment.

1. Chain hoist

2. Forklift

3. Miscellaneous hand tools

4. Miscellaneous power tools

 

Personal protective equipment:

1. Safety glasses

2. Gloves when necessary

3. Safety goggles when filling up batteries

4. Insulated hand tools

 

Training requirements

1. Employee orientation.

2. Quality policy and measureable objectives.

3. All other training as indicated on department training matrix.

4. Forklift use & annual recertification.

5. Chain hoist use.

6. Lockout tag-out.
