Purpose of job:

 Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments.  Prepare items for shipment while maintaining all operating procedures and work instructions pertinent to the position to assure compliance with the company’s ISO/FDA quality management system.

 

Level of authority:  

  1. Notify management of any conditions that adversely affect product quality.

  2. Ship released product via specified carriers.

 

Essential job functions: 

  1. Pull orders from inventory accurately.

  2. Fill small parts orders (kits).

  3. Meet shipping due dates and notify shipping manager and sales when unable to comply.

  4. Create documentation for shipping carriers, customs, and customer related paperwork.

  5. Check parts against work orders for shipment.

 

Additional job functions:

  1. Check inventory for Production Manager and scheduler and notify them of any discrepancies.

  2. Provide information and assistance to the shipping manager, as needed.

  3. Actively participate in the continual improvement process and give support to teamwork and team-oriented activities.

  4. Participate in corrective and preventive action activities, when needed.

  5. May need to perform job-related activities as required or assigned.

 

Essential job qualifications and requirements:

 

Technical

  • Must have knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the distribution of products.

  • Must have knowledge of customer services, needs, and quality standards.

  • Must have basic computer skills and be capable of learning new software programs.

  • Must have good time management and organization skills.

  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must be able to arrange objects and actions in a certain order according to a set of rules or instructions.

  • Must have attention to detail.

  • Must be an active listener.

  • Must have critical thinking skills to identify possible problems and solutions

  • Must have good mathematical skills.

  • Must be able to interact with co-workers courteously and professionally.

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

 

Physical

  1. Must be able to see details at a close range.

  2. Must be able to use hands and arms in handling, positioning, moving, and manipulating objects.

  3. Must be able to have considerable use of your arms and legs, moving your whole body.

  4. Must be able to climb, lift moderate to moderately heavy weight, balance, walk, stoop, and handle materials and objects throughout an 8-hour shift.

  5. Must be able to spend a majority of work shift standing.

 

Work environment:  must be able to work in a temperature controlled production area with a moderately loud noise level due to production machines.  A portion of work is also performed in an office environment.

 

Tools and equipment:

  1. Barcode reader

  2. Package scales

  3. Packing tape gun

  4. Computer

 

Personal protective equipment:

  1. Safety glasses when in the production area

 

Training requirements

  1. Employee orientation.

  2. Quality policy and measureable objectives.

  3. All other training as indicated on department training matrix

The Position:

  • Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt, 10:30 am – 7:00 PM Monday – Friday
