Purpose of the job:

Maintain proper level of material in injection molding machines and material dryers.

 

Level of authority:  

  1. Notify management of any conditions that adversely affect product quality.

  2. Initiate in the corrective/preventative processes.

 

Essential job functions:

  1. Maintain the correct level of material in injection molding machines and material dryers.

  2. Rotate material in molding machine hoppers at established intervals.

  3. Participate in morning startup of injection molding machines.

  4. Participate in end of the day shutdown of injection molding machines.

  5. Review the production schedule with the setup technicians to determine which materials need to be dried for upcoming orders.

  6. Monitor plastic material inventory and notify supervisor of low inventory.

  7. Monitor inventory of 50 and 100 count boxes/inserts and notify supervisor of low inventory.

  8. Perform preventative maintenance on drying equipment (cleaning and changing filters).

  9. Monitor drying equipment for proper function.

  10. Perform moisture content checks on the material before materials are used to mold parts.

  11. Maintain a clean and organized work area with emphasis on safety, quality, efficiency, and utilization. 

  12. Adhere to all department work instructions and operating procedures

 

Additional job functions:

  1. Empty scrap runner barrels.

  2. Grind runners as required or assigned.

  3. Maintain grinder cleanliness after each use.

  4. Adhere to all quality and safety standards in the department.

  5. Continually seek to improve work processes and individual performance.

  6. Adhere to all company policies and operational procedures.

  7. May need to perform additional tasks as needed or assigned

 

Essential job qualifications and requirements:

 

Technical

  1. Must have attention to detail.

  2. Must have knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and quality control.

  3. Must have knowledge of assigned machines including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

  4. Must be able to monitor assigned machines for proper functioning.

  5. Must have good troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.

  6. Must be an active listener and able to take direction.

  7. Must have good mathematical skills.

  8. Must be able to read and comprehend work instructions.

  9. Must be able to interact with co-workers courteously and professionally.

  10. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

 

Physical

  1. Must be able to perform general physical activities frequently during an 8-hour shift including pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, climbing, lifting, and balancing.

  2. Must be able to stand and walk throughout an 8-hour shift.

  3. Must be able to do heavy lifting frequently during an 8-hour shift.

  4. Must have multi-limb coordination.

  5. Must have good arm-hand control and dexterity.

  6. Must have good finger control and dexterity.

  7. Must have good physical reaction time to physical dangers from setting up, repairing and maintaining assigned machines.

  8. Must be able to see details at a close range.

  9. Must be able to monitor radio messages while doing other tasks throughout an 8-hour shift.

  10. Must be able to work the hours required.

  11. Must have the discipline to get to work on time.

 

Work environment:  Work is performed in a temperature controlled production area with a moderately loud noise level due to production machines.

 

Tools and equipment:

  1. Communication radio

  2. Ladder

  3. Grams scale

  4. Forklift

  5. Miscellaneous hand tools

 

Personal protective equipment:

  1. Safety glasses

  2. Gloves when necessary

 

Training requirements

  1. Employee orientation.

  2. Quality policy and measurable objectives.

  3. All other training as indicated on the department training matrix.

  4. Forklift use & annual recertification.

  5. Chain hoist use.

  6. Understand lock out tag out procedure.

The Position:

  • Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt
