Insert Molding combines metal and plastics, or multiple combinations of materials and components into a single unit. The process makes use of engineering plastics for improved wear resistance, tensile strength and weight reduction as well as using metallic materials for strength and conductivity.
INSERT MOLDING
Insert injection molding is an over-molding process used to combine more than one part into one final composite part or finished product. During the process, an "insert" is placed into an injection mold before the plastic is injected to fill in around the insert. While this often involves two disparate plastic pieces, insert molding can also be used to combine components made up of other materials like metal.
